GRRM really knows how to use the concept of doorways, interdimensional portals and Supernatural-Beings.

Honolulu and Time Travel, etc.

The City_and_County_of_Honolulu contains Pearl_Harbor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Base_Pearl_Harbor-Hickam

Back in the day, Pearl_Harbor was still part of the Island of Oahu, which in turn was in Oahu County.
"DISTRICT VII: Kalihi, Kapālama, Pālama, Iwilei, Sand Island, Māpunapuna, Airport, Hickam, Pearl Harbor, Ford Island..."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honolulu_County,_Hawaii#County_districts
District 7 is right next to District 6, where Downtown_Honolulu is located. Honolulu_Harbor is on the edge of the Central_Business_District where an interesting pattern has developed over time.

The Aloha_Tower opened in 1926 on 9-11.
Something very interesting happened in that area during the late 1960s & the early 1970s.

Downtown_Honolulu was getting its first twin office tower complex.

http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21249&page=14
Of course, the twin Topa+Towers were nowhere near the size of the giant ones in NYC. Yet, somehow Oahu was getting it first set of  twin office buildings at the same time that Manhattan was getting its giant twin towers. The ones in Honolulu were built just a couple of blocks north of the 9-11 Aloha Tower. They even seem to be a similar, but much smaller echo of the giant ones in NYC. http://www.topafinancialcenter.com/Content/About_The_Property.htm

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HAWAII-DOWNTOWN,_HONOLULU_(OAHU_I)_-_NARA_-_553790.jpg

http://hawaii.gov/hawaiiaviation/aviation-photos/misc-1970s

http://hawaii.gov/hawaiiaviation/aviation-photos/1970-1973

So, the Aloha_Tower becomes the tallest building in Hawaii in 1926 on 9-11. Then by the late 1960s twin office buildings are built close to it. Around the same time a construction project of gigantic twin towers starts in NYC. But while the ones in Honolulu still safely stand close to the 9-11 Aloha_Tower, the giant ones in NYC get destroyed on 9-11 in what becomes the New_Pearl_Harbor.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Final_Countdown_(film) 1980

The_Final_Countdown is an interesting time travel movie, but in the late 1950s Rod_Serling was about to take TV into the ZONE. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWgLiuDAaAw

http://www.rodserling.com/NYTtelement.htm,
http://twilightzonevortex.blogspot.ca/2012/10/the-time-element.html

At first you might think that its just a story about a man who has a precognitive dream of what will happen on December 7, 1941. Then something very peculiar happens to him.

https://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/479596/the-time-element/#overview

"Many years after the end of World War II, a man named Peter Jenson (William Bendix) visits a psychoanalyst, Dr. Gillespie (Martin Balsam). Jenson tells of a recurring dream where he tries to warn people about the "sneak attack" on Pearl Harbor, but in his dream the warnings are disregarded. Dr. Gillespie insists that time travel is impossible given the nature of temporal paradoxes. Jenson finally reveals that he was actually in Honolulu on December 7, 1941. While on the couch, Jenson falls asleep once again and dreams that the Japanese planes flying overhead shoot and kill him. In Dr. Gillespie's office, the couch Jenson was lying on is now empty. Dr. Gillespie goes to a bar where he finds Jenson's picture on the wall. The bartender tells him that Jenson had tended there, but was killed during the Pearl Harbor attack."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twilight_Zone#Plot

Its fascinating how RS wanted to start things off in the late 1950s with a potential TV series involving time travel & other classic sci-fi themes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU2KirnCUZM

{"The Time Element" was Serling's 1957 pilot pitch for his show, a time travel adventure about a man who travels back to Honolulu in 1941 and unsuccessfully tries to warn everyone about the impending attack on Pearl Harbor. The script, however, was rejected and shelved for a year until Bert Granet discovered and produced it as an episode of Desilu Playhouse in 1958.^[11] The show was a huge success and enabled Serling to finally begin production on his anthology series, The Twilight Zone."}
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twilight_Zone_(1959_TV_series)#Development,
https://myspace.com/thetzom/video/the-time-element/56564582

So, with the pre-TZ pilot being very popular, The_Twilight_Zone_TV_series was given the green light. While the pre-TV pilot has its connection with Pearl Harbor, the first episode ofThe_Twilight_Zone series has an interesting connection with 9-11.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RN4sPnIXySY
Where_Is_Everybody stars Earl_Holliman, who happens to be born on 9-11-1928. So in effect, the TZ has a strong synchronicity with Pearl Harbor & an actor born on 9-11.
http://twilightzonevortex.blogspot.ca/search/label/%27%27Where%20is%20Everybody%3F%27%27

4 years after the release of The Final Countdown there was, The_Philadelphia_Experiment movie. Officially, there wasn't any actual Philadelphia_Experiment. However, there really was a USS_Eldridge, a ship with a peculiar name. http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq21-1.htm,
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/523/did-the-u-s-navy-teleport-ships-in-the-philadelphia-experiment

Its quite interesting to name a navy ship after,
Lieutenant Commander John_Eldridge,_Jr. of Scouting Squadron 71 who as of 9-11-1941 becomes a man with a key command position that started on 9-11. That also happened to be the day that construction of The_Pentagon commenced.
http://www.history.com/news/9-things-you-may-not-know-about-the-pentagon

"From 11 September 1941 he was Commander, Scouting Squadron 71, attached to Wasp (CV-7). Lieutenant Commander Eldridge was killed in action in the Solomons 2 November 1942."

Everyone has their own take of the so called, Supernatural. Is there a dark side of the Force, so to speak?
http://scifi.about.com/od/starwarsglossaryandfaq/a/SWAR_glossary_the-force.htm

Whether perceived metaphorically or actually, if there is a dark side of energy & intent then perhaps there is a field of negative & deceptive consciousness. The-Ouija-portal is something less physical & more metaphysical. Over the years there have been several accounts of encounters with dangerous-entities.

Its not all dark, but one has to be aware & cautious.
